1-arm overhead dumbbell press

Set up

Bring the dumbbell slightly outside the shoulder.  Bring the elbow directly underneath the wrist so the forearm is vertical.

pressing

Begin to press the weight overhead by keeping the elbow as close to under the wrist as possible.

finish

Press the dumbbell in a straight line and finish directly over the head.  Slowly bring the weight back down to the initial set up position.
